COVID-19: Cases up 22 443, deaths increase by 347 on Friday 9 July | Muhabarishaji News

The latest COVID-19 figures released by acting Health Minister Mmamaloko Kubayi-Ngubane on Friday evening report that cases have increased by 22 443 in the last 24-hours, meaning that the total number of infections that have been accumulatively reported since March 2020 has risen to 2 157 687. 

Sadly, over the last 24-hours alone, a further 347 people have died from COVID-19, meaning that a total of 63 873 people have succumbed to the virus since the first death in March 2020. 

A total of 1 884 have recovered having tested positive for COVID-19, representing  a recovery rate of 87.3%.

Provincial COVID-19 case breakdown Friday 9 july

The following confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in each province as of Friday 9 July:

• Eastern Cape – 212 547 cases, 12 056 deaths;
• Free State – 119 137 cases;  5 396 deaths;
• Gauteng –  11 680 cases; 14 247 deaths;
• KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) – 367 138 cases; 10 863 deaths;
• Limpopo – 89 042 cases;  2 827 deaths;
• Mpumalanga – 104 245 cases; 1 535 deaths;
• North West – 107 681 cases;  2 584 deaths;
• Northern Cape – 61 319 cases;  1 448 deaths;
• Western Cape – 343 724 cases, 12 917 deaths; and
• Unallocated –  0 cases, 0 deaths.

As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 2 157 687 with 22 443 new cases reported. Today 374 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 63 873 deaths. Latest vaccine figures:  

A total of 4 203 293 people have received either the Pfizer or Johnson and Johnson jab in South Africa to date.
